		<description>With ERP we had a similar three latter acronym struggle. I think many consultants have heard of the classic MRP, MRPII, ERP to ERPII evolution story. With PLM it is the same thing. PDM is older name used in the 1990&#039;s when CAD systems started having the need to organize their drawings. After introducing these new systems in the organization it soon became the central point to store all sorts of information. Nowadays PLM stands for much more than just the big information can. Today PLM is an enterprise wide tool just like ERP is. When looking to Engineer-To-Order type of companies this becomes very apperent.</description>
