Enterprise Resource Planning Turns 21: Will You Come To The Party?

When he turned 21, he started spending time with a new crowd.

They encouraged him to join an exercise program, helping him increase his strength and flexibility.

And as he spent more time with them, he began taking his studies far more seriously, especially as it related to analytics.

But first, there was the party – attended by top industry executives.

We are talking above about not a person, but a process – Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) – and I apologize for choosing to personify it as a ‘he’ – rather than as ‘he or she.’

5 Things You Must See At Microsoft Dynamics Convergence 2011

Sunday marks the start of this year’s Microsoft Dynamics Convergence conference in Atlanta, GA.

As you prepare your final travel arrangements, and set your agenda, use the list below to ensure you don’t miss the highlights of this year’s event.

Here are 5 things you must see at Microsoft Dynamics Convergence:

1. Out of the Box IEM & Warehouse Management Solutions
We tell you that our solutions built on Microsoft Dynamics meet 85% of the requirements of Industrial Equipment Manufacturers (IEM) and Warehouse Management and Distribution professionals right out of the box.  This weekend, we will show you how these solutions meet your requirements.  Simply stop by our booth (#801, right inside the front door) for a free consultation or demo.  To schedule a meeting in advance, simply complete the form to the right.

Microsoft Dynamics AX Case Study: Automated End-To-End Manufacturing

“You can’t be lean and have disparate manufacturing software systems,” says Robin Schroeder, IT Director, Met-Pro.

Met-Pro is a global provider of product recovery, pollution control and fluid handling application solutions.  They are also the star of a new Microsoft Dynamics AX case study, featured in the latest issue of Prime Magazine, as an accompaniment to my interview on end-to-end supply chain management.

Due to the very nature of its industry, the products and solutions Met-Pro provides for its clients are extremely technical and exacting.  Driven by the need for a solution that would provide more efficient product development, and stronger project visibility, Met-Pro began searching for a solution that would support an automated and streamlined end-to-end manufacturing process.

The Importance of An Evolving Supply Chain Management Solution For IEMs

Whether or not a market’s evolution can be predicted has little relevance on the absolute certainty that this evolution must handled.

In the last two years, research by the Aberdeen Group indicates that the Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (IEM) industry has been among the hardest hit by our recent economic crisis.  As a result, many organizations have had to reduce staff headcount by as much as 12 percent to simply stay afloat.

Microsoft Dynamics Convergence 2011: What To Expect When You’re Expecting

Each year, thousands attend the Microsoft Dynamics Convergence conference, and leave having given birth to the strategies that will improve their bottom-line and revamp their business operations.

My company, To-Increase, will again be significantly involved in this event, and as such – I wanted to share with you a few highlights you can expect:

Enterprise Resource Planning: To Legacy, or Not To Legacy?

How much is your company planning to spend on its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system this year?

If your answer, like many companies, is next to nil – what are your reasons for not upgrading?

Please note, that my questions above are not meant as bear traps of embarrassment.  If you are not planning to upgrade or invest in ERP this year, you are actually in quite good company.

In a Forrester survey, cited by Jeff Moad at Manufacturing Executive, 72% of Enterprise Resource Planning customers plan do not plan to invest in ERP systems in 2011.

PLM & ERP Integration Demo Video: See Microsoft Dynamics & Siemens Teamcenter Shake Hands

Complete Form To The Right To See The PLM & ERP Handshake

At times, a simple handshake is the quickest way to get a job done.  In the discrete manufacturing industry, where projects depend on near perfect synchronicity, this could not be more true.

Such is the idea behind Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration.  The more these two systems can communicate with each other directly, the more benefits that will result.  Not the least of which is faster production time and faster time to market.

February Webinars: From PLM Integration To Improved CAD Design

While most of us are aware how many steps it takes to simply create a new product, those of us in manufacturing are among the few that truly understand each intricate step along the way.

And from design to distribution, there are hundreds of different duties for hundreds of different roles.

This month, webinars offered by To-Increase and PTC will help manufacturers do everything from integrate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, to more effectively complete 3D CAD designs.

Every two weeks, or every 1,000 miles (whichever comes first) mixer trucks operated by your plant must undergo cleaning and maintenance.

Every four weeks, or every 4,000 miles (again, whichever comes first) a mechanic must inspect your trucks tires and brake lines.

Every six months, every machine in your manufacturing plant must receive a full safety inspection – unless, of course – your production capacity is exceeded by 25%.

These maintenance schedules must be adhered to, regardless of the razor thinness of your profit margins or the lean manufacturing best practices to which you must adhere.

Microsoft Dynamics AX Recognized As Industry Leader In Gartner Magic Quadrant For ERP

This blog is not solely about Microsoft Dynamics.

When I started publishing posts over a year ago, I set to write about – among other topics – how Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions could help make life easier for those in the manufacturing and retail industry.

All that said, my company – To-Increase – is a leading provider of Microsoft Dynamics, and I would be remiss in not alerting you when these solutions gained exposure as industry leaders.

Late last year, the analysts at Gartner, Inc. announced Microsoft Dynamics AX position as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for ERP for Product-centric mid-marketing companies.  In the same report, Microsoft Dynamics NAV was recognized as a niche player.
